Best Way to Get to KeyBank Center

The free above-ground rail into DL&W Station is the honest answer for most fans now, at zero dollars and immune to the parking search entirely. Pair it with the free Park & Ride at University Station (3435 Main Street) or LaSalle Station (3030 Main Street) if you are driving in from outside downtown: leave the car there, ride the free above-ground leg the rest of the way, and skip both a parking bill and the walk from a downtown ramp.

All official arena parking is cashless, taking major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Pre-paid parking runs through JustPark, the arena's named official partner, though a check on 2026-08-30 found JustPark's KeyBank Center page listing only concerts, no Sabres dates, for advance booking. Confirm your specific game is listed before counting on a pre-paid pass; JustPark's own FAQ notes onsite payment "may be available" on event days but is not guaranteed.

The $5-25 band comes from Ticketmaster's venue guide, a secondary source, not a live JustPark checkout or the arena's own posted rate. Treat it as a rough range and expect the top of it on a big date.

Cheaper Alternatives

The free Park & Ride plus free above-ground rail combination is the single best-sourced money-saving option here. As a comparison point, the Courtyard Buffalo Downtown/Canalside lists limited onsite self-parking at $18 a night, one car per reservation, first-come. No independently priced private surface lot near the building was confirmed, so a stranger's "$10 cash lot" sign on game night is not something to plan around.

Nearly everything worth booking sits inside a 20-minute walk in downtown Buffalo, clustered around Canalside and the Cobblestone District. Straight-line distances below are from the arena; add roughly 20 percent for the actual street-grid walk.

The Buffalo Marriott at LECOM HARBORCENTER is the closest full-service option and houses Panorama on Seven, the 7th-floor restaurant with direct arena access.

Almost everything below sits within a 10-minute walk in two adjacent districts: Canalside to the north and west of the arena, and the Cobblestone District immediately south and east.

What Has Changed: older Buffalo guides still send readers to (716) Food and Sport, the bar that used to sit inside LECOM HARBORCENTER next to the arena. It closed, and Southern Tier Brewing Co. has taken over the space. A few other names still circulating online are gone or were never a downtown option: Lockhouse Distillery's old address now points somewhere unrelated, Templeton Landing has shifted to special-events-only, and Bar-Bill Tavern has locations in East Aurora, Clarence and Rochester but nothing downtown. Do not plan a pre-game stop around any of the four.

Buffalo Place, the downtown management organization, maintains a broader eat-and-drink directory if none of the above fits your route.

Delaware North runs concessions, and the arena is fully cashless, including every stand. Two local names anchor the menu: Sahlen's hot dogs and La Nova pizza, both mainstays alongside beef on weck at stands throughout the bowl.

No Re-Entry, No Smoking

Re-entry is not permitted once you leave; medical emergencies route to Account Services instead. The building is entirely smoke-free, including e-cigarettes, with no designated smoking area anywhere on arena property.

Prohibited Items

The arena's own A-Z guide lists animals other than service animals, aerosol cans, alcohol, backpacks, chains, drones, explosives, firearms, outside food or drink, fuel, frisbees or beach balls, hazardous chemicals, illegal drugs, laser pens, musical instruments or noisemakers, razor-type blades, self-defense spray, selfie sticks, studded jewelry, and weapons of any kind. Firearms and weapons are banned inside the building and on the surrounding property at all times, not just at the door.

Cameras

Flash photography and cameras, including long lenses, are allowed for Sabres and Bandits games as long as they do not block other fans or aisles. Tripods are not permitted, photos are limited to your own seat, and the glass "mouseholes" cannot be used for a shot.

Accessible seating is available on every level, with up to three companion seats per patron who needs accessible seating, arranged through the Account Services Office. All entrances are accessible with electric power doors.

Accessible family restrooms sit on the 100 Level between Aisles 7 and 8, the 200 Level between Aisles 15 and 16, and the 300 Level between Aisles 12 and 13. Is it still called First Niagara Center?

No. The building has been KeyBank Center since 2016, and KeyBank extended its naming rights in July 2025 through the 2035-36 season. First Niagara Center ran from 2011 to 2016; older material still uses it.

Is (716) Food and Sport still open?

No. It closed, and Southern Tier Brewing Co. now occupies the space next to the arena at 7 Scott Street. If you find an older guide recommending (716), it is out of date.

How do I get to KeyBank Center without driving?

NFTA's Metro Rail runs free above ground between Fountain Plaza and the new DL&W Station, about 0.11 miles from the arena. It opened in December 2025 and is genuinely the cheapest and least stressful way in.

Is parking included with my ticket?

December and January are the heaviest months, each averaging 25 to 27 inches, with February and March still carrying real snow at 18.1 and 14.1 inches. The arena's inclement-weather policy is unforgiving: tickets are not refunded for any event held as scheduled, snow included. The free above-ground rail into DL&W Station is the weatherproof way in, and NFTA publishes its own winter travel guidance for it. Check the National Weather Service Buffalo office before you leave the house, not the week before.

The franchise was founded in 1970 and played at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, "the Aud," until this building opened in 1996. Buffalo has reached two Stanley Cup Finals without winning one, losing to Philadelphia in 1975 and Dallas in 1999. Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and Rene Robert, the French Connection line, are honored with a bronze statue at Alumni Plaza outside the arena; their numbers, 11, 7 and 14, are retired.

Boston and Montreal were Buffalo's rivals during the old Adams Division era, and both got a modern jolt in 2025-26. The Toronto Factor

Toronto sits close enough across the Peace Bridge that a Maple Leafs visit is widely described as one of Buffalo's rowdiest home dates, though the exact size of the visiting crowd is not something either team publishes. Treat it as a night to book early rather than a guaranteed spectacle.

Why Demand Is Different Now

Ending the NHL's longest playoff drought changed the building's economics. Full Season Memberships are sold out for 2026-27 and Ten-Game Plans are not being offered. Buy earlier than you would have two seasons ago, especially for Boston, Montreal or Toronto.

• Ride the free above-ground rail to DL&W Station. It costs nothing, it is new for 2026-27, and most out-of-town guides have not caught up to it yet.
• Check JustPark for your specific date before assuming you can pre-book parking; not every Sabres game shows up there.
• Load your mobile ticket the night before. There is no print-at-home fallback, and gate Wi-Fi is not something to count on.
• Southern Tier Brewing Co. now occupies the old (716) Food and Sport space next to the arena; update your mental map if you last visited before it changed hands.
• Bring real winter boots from December through February. The forecast for "Buffalo" does not always match what falls on your specific block.
