Seattle's expansion franchise borrowed its name from maritime folklore when the Kraken joined the NHL in 2021, one of the league's newest additions. The club's official Deep Sea Blue, Ice Blue and Boot Green color palette reflects its Pacific Northwest setting, and Climate Pledge Arena was rebuilt around the preserved roof of the historic KeyArena. Seattle is still writing its first chapters of playoff history.
